.Aligned with Structured Literacy Instruction

Homestead Readers is a phonics-based reading system created to work with the structured literacy approaches already used in many classrooms, including UFLI and Heggerty.  The books follow a clear, systematic phonics progression so students read only the letter patterns they have been explicitly taught.  This allows teachers to focus on instruction rather than adapting materials or checking word lists.

Three Series.  One Reading Progression.

Homestead Readers provides decodable texts that align directly with phonics instruction. Each story introduces only one or two new skills, making the books easy to use within the school’s learn-to-read program.

Homestead History is the companion series. These books reinforce the same phonics skills at each level while introducing true Canadian history through short, meaningful stories. Students gain fluency without moving outside the phonics scope and sequence.

Detective Grant and Co. continues the progression into early chapter books. These stories  provide longer texts that build fluency and stamina after students have established strong decoding skills.
